Comment : dashboard injury

Your injury is the exact reason they call tibial plateau's 'dashboard injuries' because they often happen in car accidents, with you knee hitting the dash.

I also have a tibial plateau, the bone is mostly healed. I think 6 weeks sounds premature for you, I was able to start bearing weight at 6 weeks, but I was 6 weeks ahead of schedule...12 weeks non weight bearing is more common. But mine was a fracture and crushing, and I had screws and a graft.

My OS said the new bone growth will not harden until at least 6 months. I am approaching 6 months, have been off crutches for about a month, and am walking with a limp. I cannot run, jump, squat, or knee. I am 44 and very healthy. I did have a lot of cartilage damage along with the bone fracture. The cartilage is what is bothering me now, and I am facing a scope in about a month.

Good luck, but take it easy and let yourself heal! These joint fractures are typically longer heals than the average bone shaft fractures.
