I broke my fibula playing rugby on Saturday, 15th of May 2004. I ran up through a few guys and they eventually took me down, I was still driving with my legs. When I lost my footing my right ankle kind of twisted on to the ground, and my leg took a lot of force. I was suddenly in a lot of pain, but I didnt want to imagine I'd heard a crack.
I was carried off the field and driven to A&E, and the x-ray lady came back and showed me I'd fully snapped my fibula about a third of the way up, but luckily it had come right back into alignment, no surgery neccessary.
It was in the last 5 minutes of the game and we were 80 points up - we won 98-0, and its the third game of the season. Don't know how long I'm out for yet, but the snow season is fast approaching so I have some serious rehab to do.
This is New Zealand so the game's a little more serious, haha. good luck.
