looks like breaking your leg was karma for drinking all that nice rum :oP If you get a brace it is probably pretty similar to the boot I had, boot might be a bit more heavy duty. It's hard to really tell because there are so many different kinds and everyone calls them different things on top of that. Mine is this big black thing, it has a padded rubber bottom and then two big plastic panel things come up from the sole on either side of my leg. There is a padded boot thing that velcros inside the hard shell and then 4 velcro straps that hold it all together, 2 that criss-cross over my foot and 2 that wrap around my calf. As for FWB and carrying stuff, you will probably have to wait a while until you get used to walking again before you carry anything heavy. When you first start walking its going to be pretty painful and you will probably try to avoid putting excess weight on it. Your balance and coordination is going to off also, so carrying heavy things can be a little dangerous. I donít think it will hurt the healing process though, as long as you donít stumble or anything, so if you feel comfortable carrying something you should be fine. Obviously itís best to ask the doctor first though. Not being able to carry anything is miserable.
On another note I am healing well, I slacked off my updates after my rugby team lost in the playoffs in a very very very disappointing loss. After that I stopped going to the second PT that I had to pay for, figured I wasnít in as big of a hurry anymore so no need to pay all the money. Things are going good though, just slow. The other PT I am seeing has me doing jumping exercises now, shouldnít be too much longer before I can do a full sprint. After reading about the long term effects a lot of the other people have on this site itís nice to know that this sort of break usually makes a 100% recovery as long as you are careful. I hope everything heals well and fast for you, if you have any questions donít hesitate to ask.
