Amber_P : Recovering
Diary entry posted Fri 5:25pm 17 February 2012

So I spent 6 days in the hospital. First I was at urgent care and even after those dumb nurses saw the xrays, they made me walk with crutches all the way to the ER. I was crying the whole time and the nurse escorting me didn't even care. The people in the ER were so much nicer and way better at cheering me up. But overall, my hospital experience wasn't good. The people were great, but not everything else. And I lost 15 lbs, which I didn't think was even possible.

I broke my leg so bad that I had to have surgery. So now I have a plate and screws. I consider myself to be more like Wolverine now, ha! I've been in a splint, cast thing, with velcro straps that lets me bend my leg. I like it. It's nice because I can take it off and it's not itchy like a normal cast. I've been in that since I was at the hospital.

Hopefully next week at my check up they will tell me I can start weight bearing. It would be really nice getting back to normal life. It's the hardest thing not being able to walk or be active anymore! How do you deal? It's hard for me because I'm only 20, so I was out of the house almost everyday before my accident. I've just been sitting at home watching tv, reading articles, and practicing stretches for my leg. I gues that's the best thing for me right now is getting my leg back to moving normally. I think it will help in the long run in PT. I should be starting that next week too.

Sorry this one was a little scatter brained! That's just how I feel half the time lately. I just don't know where to begin, because theres so much to say.
