Comment : HWR Update

I am 6 weeks post HWR surgery and life is SO MUCH BETTER!!! No more shin pain, which was a constant prior to surgery. No more constant stiffness - still stiff, but in a different way - as I know I can stretch it out eventually. My ROM is greatly improved - nearly 9 degrees on inversion alone. I can lay in most positions now without hurting from the hardware being so close to the skin and the pressure of laying on it = pain. I no longer have a dull ache ALL the time. It still gets sore, tender and tired, but its a different soreness that isnt "as deep" if that makes sense. I have to be careful for a couple more months as the holes from the screws fill in, but am able to walk without aid, swim, bike, etc. I use an AFO brace to prevent side twisting of my leg (MN Winters), but can take it off when I feel like it and dont wear it indoors. I can push a cart now too! It still is not comfortable, but its possible. My muscles are still weak from the original break. My calf is 1.5 inches smaller than my good leg. I do calf raises, squats, balance activities and just general use to try to get it all back, though I am sure that will take a lot of time. I am really happy that I had the HWR surgery!! I go back in 2 months for check up. And I go back to work on Tuesday next week! Yay!!
