At my 21 week check up - I was given the OK to drive and return to work!! I am really excited to have that part of my life back. I am extremely nervous, but it will all go well. I am out of the air cast and now using an AFO hinged brace. Well, I am supposed to be using it. But it hurts really bad as its tight and puts a lot of pressure on my plates/HW and rubs in random places. But I was told I cannot walk without it because my bones still need healing time and the brace will lessen the impact. That and it prevents my ankle from twisting while walking. So, I am sitting here with it on and trying my best to tolerate just having it on (not moving). It's pretty uncomfortable. I saw a handful of specialists lately and am now told that I do not have RSD, but that it is a vein issue (my foot is always freezing cold and purple/blue). But the vein specialist already told me it wasnt a vein issue, all without TOUCHING my leg. So, here we go into round 2 to figure it all out. I am on worker comp, so that has been interesting too. They can't seem to fathom why I wouldnt return to work 8 hours a day... so I had to go back to the doc and get a note saying transitional work return - 1/2 days and then working my way up. I do a lot of home visits and driving, so am a little nervous about all of that. I return to the doc at 26 weeks and am really hoping for GREAT news. They cant tell how healed my bones are as they say I would need a CT scan for that. But the xrays still look very broken to me!!! I started PT now, and so far it has been pretty useless. I also started swimming and biking as I can drive to the gym. ITs been great. So.... on I go to more healing!!!
