Alison, I had the same two bones broken ,my wife and I were in Fl.this pass winter,we were at the hotel and I was leaning on a wall putting on a sock and I fell down ,I did not have any pain at all ,no bones came through the skin ,the fire dept. took me to the hospital that was Feb.3 2005,they had to put medal braces in ,but during the opeartion I devolped a respirtory problem and I had to be traked for my breathing and Ihad to be intubate for three weeks ,my wife never knowingif I was going to make it or not, well I got through that ,But I could not put any weight at all on the broken leg at all so I stayed in bed for the next ten weeks ,they moved me from Boca community hospital ,to Bethesda hospital, for rehabilation which at the best o.k. We are from Connecticut, and now we are into April ,and still no progress ,so we decided we had to come up to Ct. and get into Gaylord Hospital ,in Wallingford ,Ct.So the Bethesda hospital did the paper work, but we had to get transportion there ,we had to hire a Med. Jet to fly us to New Haven Ct.with every ,from bed to bed was $13,000 ! that was with a box lunch ,but I must say worth every penny's worth.I checked into Gaylord on April 22 2005 and checked out walking on June 29 2005 ,they are the very best!! I still walk with a cane ,for the time being, but now my doctor wants to remove the hardware from inside that leg because it still has an infection, so here we go again But being at home ,my wife is the BEST, that helps a lot .
My best to you ,George
