Alexis
Your injury sounds very complicated and painful. I do hope that your forthcoming operation finally sorts things out.
I am a fellow Scot who smashed her ankle and broke her fibula in Mali,Africa while on holiday. My travel insurance was great and I was airlifted home in an Air Assistance plane direct to Edinburgh with an ambulance waiting.
I had to spend a week in hospital before my operation, got a huge screw in my ankle and was sent home to be non-weight bearing for 6 weeks. I got a chair, bath seat, and toilet frame with no hassle whatsoever. My experience of the NHS has been great and when I read in the web-site of all the US people fighting insurance companies and even getting sacked from their jobs I know where I prefer to live.I am getting fed up with crutches but I could be so much worse.
I do hope that your 'new'operation works and that you will soon be in recovery mode.
Best wishes
Helen
