Just like Alex I was doing everything right and still got run over. I was driving down a four lane hwy and going under the speed limit because of a bad intersection ahead and the next thing I knew a big suv turned right in front of me at the last minute. I had time to think to hit the brakes but it wasn't time enough to even leave skid marks on the road. All I did was stiffen up enough that the impact shattered both legs. So my family spent Christmas in ICU with me. Both legs had to have plates and screws. I spent the next two months on my back in a hospital bed in my dining room the carpet was too hard to use the hoyer lift on. I was extremly lucky that I had little pain after the intial soreness, that is until I was told to start putting weight on my legs again. It was unreal how painful it was the first weeks on my feet. I am learning how to walk again and can walk with a cane and sometimes without anything for support now. My problem is the screws inside are rubbing my tendon and it hurts every step I take. The doctor said he would not go back in my legs for at least a year and he would take the screws out then. Has anybody else had this problem and is there any way of coping with it for a year?
