Comment : Re: broken tib and fib

I broke my tib and fib on July 15, 2008. Slipped going down a hill, twisted foot, spiral fracture and broken pieces. Had surgery July 23 - tibia has a plate with 8 screws, fibula has a plate with 16 screws (it was in 3 pieces on the xray). I did use tylenol and advil for the 1st 3 weeks, then nothing. Has not been painful. Used an aircast for 2 weeks after surgery, then only when going out for the next 4 weeks. Started gradual weight-bearing 6 weeks after surgery, crutches ditched after 3 months. Ankle has good function. The worst has been that I dropped a book on my foot and it caused more swelling an dpain than the break and surgery did. At the last checkup the big break is still "filling in". Will have another checkup in a few weeks. Can't run, having some problem with going down stairs, but I think that is due to weakness in the muscle as it is improving.
