Aggie : 6 weeks out
Diary entry posted Mon 10:02am 7 April 2003

I was really apprehensive about going to the Dr that day. I am a control freak! I only wanted to hear him say the bone was healing! I had heard alot of people say they had to use stimulaters etc. My vitamin guru husband had me on a multitude of pills for bone growth etc. I knew I couldnt contol the bone healing process , but I could deal with the soft tissue issues. From the time I was 8 until I was 16 I had 6 surgeries on my left foot. I had a tumor which kept returning non cancerous. It meant cutting nerves and ligaments. I had to do a lot of pt. So I understand the process for my right leg. My good friend said to me when she found out about my ankle,"Is it your bad foot" I said no, she said oh thats good , I said no its not because I have 2 bad feet now!Having had all the surgery prepares me for all those old weird feeling in my foot when the nerves are coming back. The tingling the prickly feeling the numbness I know are all normal healing. The DR. said the bone is healing fine, and that I could start weight bearing, and Pt . He also said I could take the cast off to sleep at night.I need to start the rotation , pts of my ankle, scar tissue is the enemy of range of motion. I am 2 weeks ahead of when they said I could weight bear, so I will take it slowly. A customer of mine had this injury and said do not rush it , she did and rebroke it 3 months later. My next Drs appt. is in a month hopefully by then I will be walking in this thing, because a month after that is my trip. Does anyone know if they put you in a boot after?, or a regular shoe. Does it depend on how well each person does?
