I saw a message you posted about stairs. Going up is very different than going down. Although I'm not using crutches right now, this is what I remember:
- Use the hand rail on one side. Put both crutches under the other arm. You are going to use the railing instead of one of your crutches. Put weight on the railing as if it were a crutch.
- If going down, lead with your broken leg and crutch.
-If going up, lead with your good leg.
At first down seems very easy compared to up because of the gravity assist. After you are competent getting up and down with the handrail, you can try the daredevil two crutches up the stairs. To do this you use your crutches up as you do regularly, but you have to lean it toward the stairs. Don't do this if you are still getting dizzy from pain meds!
