Comment : life is never the same again
Posted by tina wilshaw on Mon 3:23pm 19 June 2006

Before my accident i was so fit and active, gym 3x a week i have 2 horses, a busy demanding job as a nurse doing my degree.Nothing has prepared me for fracturing my patella's, femur and hip.(in a head on car crash not my fault) The frustration, depression, anger, i have experienced. Trying to cope and finallly accept that i just have to let my body heal. I think being this vunerable will help me in the future with my patients. we are always taught never assume your patients pain, suffering as you are not them , i can fully understand this now as i snapped at loved ones and nurses when i was in so much pain , and not sleeping and i now know there not being stroppy patients but the pain and fear , and anger sometimes makes us not our usual selfs. i am 14 weeks post op i am getting there very slowly and i have just accepted that i will be off work for antother year and time does heal. ( i hope ).
